The Great Mobile Test continues in Akaroa

March 4th, 2010

Hi again, Darren here from My Hosted Exchange.

Today, the team are travelling around Akaroa, near Christchurch, with a goal of testing how these devices cope with internet access and email communications under ‘not so good’ signal strength for the Apple iPhone 3Gs and Nokia’s e75 handsets.

You see, there’s been a lot of talk and ‘noise’ in the industry regarding these handsets and just how reliable they are in challenging conditions.
I personally have used both phones, however I no longer use either. This is probably a good thing as my opinion won’t sway and testing outcomes.

Stay tuned as we head around regional (and metropolitan cities) in New Zealand to find challenging terrain for testing of these leading handsets on the Telecom and Vodafone networks.

Cheers,

Darren

The Great Mobile Phone Test with MyHostedExchange.co.nz

February 24th, 2010

Hi, Darren here from My Hosted Exchange New Zealand.

There has been a great deal of “comment” and opinion regarding the performance of Apple’s new iPhone 3Gs, so we’ve decided to put this handset to the test - on a road trip around New Zealand.

We’ve also experienced an increase in the number of Nokia e75 handsets joining our Hosted Microsoft Exchange service, so we thought we’d take this handset along for the ride and put it to the test.

There’s a bunch of objectives for this test, we won’t bore you with the detail, essentially we are out to test how these mobile phones perform overall as an internet access device both surfing the web and accessing Hosted Microsoft Exchange from our platform at www.MyHostedExchange.co.nz.

In addition, as our country has a diverse (challenging) landscape, we’re putting these handsets to the test under marginal and poor signal reception areas in an attempt to stretch the tolerance capability whilst downloading internet content and sending/receiving emails on the move.

The test is based on our team of engineers travelling around New Zealand, with each phone containing a SIM for Telecom and Vodafone.
Our staff are reasonably intimate with web surfing and accessing emails, so who better than to give these phones a good workout.

The first leg of our testing starts in my favourite town, Tairua. Then, Whitianga and down to Tauranga before reaching Wellington before Friday 26th February.
Stay tuned for our junkett… I mean, tour of the south.

The timing of our tour is a little scary, and we were thinking of postponing after Telecom announced further issues on the XT network earlier this week, however they have managed to resolve the outage issue and Gen-i assures us the network is fully operational in all the areas we are visiting.

Yes, it’s informal, and maybe even a little comical at times, so join us for a little fun and some information along the way for two of New Zealand’s leading handsets, the Apple iPhone 3Gs and Nokia’s e75.

Best,

Darren Moss

New Zealand website hosting plans from $11 Kiwi bucks

February 24th, 2010

Yep, $11 New Zealand dollars… not US dollars.

Why send your hard-earned overseas, then put up with poor international website performance, or maintenance downtime during NZ business hours ?

Seems logical, but still people invest time, effort and cost for oversubscribed services on the other side of the world that provide an average service at best.
Why settle for average.

If you’ve spent time and money on your website, host it with New Zealand’s Webhosting Network, right here in Aotearoa.
Auckland based servers with expert local support, no run-around and no maintenance outages during your most important business operational hours.

Website hosting plans from just $11 per month, including email and MailProtect - our Premium Spam and Virus protection for email.

When you need business website and email hosting, talk to our team about expert local hosting.

Hosted Exchange and Multiple Office Locations

January 26th, 2010

Kia Ora, Darren here from My Hosted Exchange.

One of the most common questions we see from new customers is
“can we have multiple office locations and staff email lists across each office?”.

The good news is Yes, of course.

An example of how this is working with some of our real estate clients is multiple office locations across the country with their own email address lists.
We have clients with mailing lists (or Distribution Lists as they are called in Microsoft Exchange) such as:

Sales Staff North
Sales Staff South

Admin Staff North
Admin Staff North

Management Team North
Management Team South

These are commonly used for internal staff who want to send emails from Microsoft Outlook or via their mobile phone without typing the name for every individual person they are sending to.

This can save a lot of keystrokes (and time) when sending from your mobile, especially when you are as bad at typing on your Apple iPhone as I am.

Another common Distribution List is Reception.North@CompanyName.com which routes requests from websites and general enquiries to the relevant office reception contact.

These Distribution Lists can have their own email address so customers and people outside your organisation can also send emails to the entire list of staff in the list using a single email address.

So, how do you set up a staff list (or Distribution List) ?
Easy, just go to the Technical Support page and create the list using the support wizard.

Something handy to know is that we automatically create a staff list for your entire organisation and any individual office locations during the setup process.
And most importantly, creating staff lists is free. You can have as many as you need.

Kia Ora and Welcome to 2010.

As businesses head back from a well deserved break over the festive season, it’s time to put on the thinking caps and continue in the quest of finding better, more cost effective ways to conduct business with customers and staff.

To help get the new year off to a flying (and discounted) start, for the month of January all new Hosted Microsoft Exchange orders will be completed without sign-up charges.

That’s a saving of $25 per mailbox or $250 back in your pocket for every 10 Hosted Microsoft Exchange mailboxes signed-up this month.

This offer applies to orders less than 100 mailboxes and requires setup via our website.

Of course, you can always request assistance for setup or bulk orders, and for this month we’ll assist with those at half price.

For more than 100 mailboxes, please contact us for a tailored solution.

When we offered this deal last year, it was for a limited number of 5,000 mailboxes, which went in less than a week, so this time you can take advantage of the same offer for the entire month of January 2010.

Provide your staff with the power and features of Microsoft Exchange Server, now with FREE mobile device support for Apple iPhone, Microsoft Windows Mobile devices and Smartphones including the popular Nokia eSeries.

Happy New Year!
